The Basics of Thoroughbred Ownership
Arcadia, Calif. – Thoroughbred Owners of California (TOC) is offering FREE seminars on the basics of Thoroughbred ownership, “Ownership 101,” at both Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields racetracks on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 8:30 a.m. Topics will include choosing a trainer, basic costs involved, and the various ways to acquire a racehorse.
Speakers at the Santa Anita event include owner and TOC board member Arnold Zetcher and Eric Adler, an owner and CPA. The event will be held at Clockers’ Corner, Santa Anita, 285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, Calif.
Speakers at the Golden Gate Fields event include newly appointed TOC board member Keith Pronske and owner/trainer Ellen Jackson. Pronske has owned and bred Thoroughbreds since 1997 and, along with his wife, Debbie, owns a small horse farm in Wilton, Calif. Jackson owns and manages Victory Rose Thoroughbreds, a training and breeding facility in Vacaville, Calif. and is a trainer at Golden Gate. The event will be held in the Bay View Lounge, Golden Gate Fields, 1100 Eastshore Highway, Albany, Calif.
Following the panel discussions at both events, seminar attendees will have the opportunity to visit the stable area in small groups, where trainers will provide barn tours.

TOC is the official organization serving new, veteran and future Thoroughbred owners in the state. It represents, advances, and protects owners’ interests and rights in legislative, administrative and business matters.
