TOC Announces 2025 Leading Owners

Arcadia, Calif. – The Thoroughbred Owners of California (TOC) has announced the leading California owners in statistical categories for 2025. For the fifth consecutive year, Reddam Racing was leading owner in California purse earnings and Nick Alexander led all owners in number of California wins. The honor for most California stakes wins was shared in a two-way tie by Augustin Stables and the partnership of Michael Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman.

Reddam Racing runners earned a total of $1,599,676 in California last year, with 27 wins from 173 starts. Their top earners included Take Another Card, winner of the California Cup Oaks; Look Forward, winner of the Santa Ynez S.; CTBA S. winner Jasmina; Smoovin Saturday, How About Pavel, Check’s On the Way, Binging, Bro Bro, and Pavlovian.

Nick Alexander had 28 wins from 123 California starts, for total earnings of $1,220,258. His top runners included Speedy Wilson, winner of the Real Good Deal S. at Del Mar; Shea Brennan, runner-up in the Real Good Deal S. and the Cal Cup Derby; Tom Horn, Titanic Thompson, Tina Turner, Nanci Griffith, Billie Holiday, Jaguar Jon, and Billy Joe Shaver.

Augustin Stables and the partnership of Pegram, Watson, and Weitman each had an impressive eight stakes wins in 2025. Augustin’s top runners included Ambaya, winner of the Gr. 1 American Oaks; Mrs. Astor, winner of the Gr. 3 Red Carpet, the Santa Barbara, and the Possibly Perfect stakes; Truly Quality, winner of the Gr. 2 Hollywood Turf Cup S.; Gr. 3 Megahertz S. winner Rashmi; Gr. 3 Wilshire S. winner Tirupati; Will Then, winner of the China Doll S.; Geometry, and As Catch Can. 

Top runners for Pegram, Watson, and Weitman included Nevada Beach, winner of the Gr. 1 Goodwood and Gr. 3 Native Diver stakes and Los Alamitos Derby; Gr. 1 La Brea S. winner Usha; Gr. 3 Best Pal S. winner Desert Gate; Explora, winner of the Gr. 2 Oak Leaf S.; Affirmed S. winner Gaming; and Sweet Life S. winner Casalu.

The 2025 statistics are provided by Equibase and do not combine wins and purse money won for owners with multiple stable names.
