On Thursday, January 11, 2018, the Thoroughbred Owners of California and National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) hosted a legislative update for TOC members to provide details on the new federal tax bill. The update covered a number of areas, including aspects of the tax bill most pertinent to owners, breeders, trainers and horseplayers; code changes generally applicable to all tax payers; and the behind the scenes politics as the NTRA advanced industry issues while preserving or blocking others.
Participants included:
- Greg Avioli, President & Chief Executive Officer, TOC
- Alex Waldrop, President and Chief Executive Officer, NTRA
- Greg Means, Principal of The Alpine Group, the NTRA’s Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist
- Lauren Basel, Vice President, The Alpine Group
If you have any follow up questions, especially on policy, reach out to NTRA’s Government Affairs Office.
