Matthew Dohman

I am a licensed real estate broker in California and the founder of Optimum First Mortgage, which I established in 2009 at the age of 27. Over the years, I have successfully developed my company into a highly-rated direct lender, achieving a 5-star rating and funding over 40,000 loans across 15 states. I reside in Huntington Harbour with my wife and two children.

My passion for horse racing began in childhood, inspired by my father’s frequent trips to the racetrack. At the age of 30, I embarked on my journey as a racehorse owner by claiming a horse, successfully moving it up in class, and winning in its first outing. Since that moment, I have been deeply engaged in the sport, owning racehorses both individually and in partnership, as well as participating in breeding. Currently, I own California Racing Partners, a syndicate dedicated to enhancing the California racing landscape, with a portfolio of over twenty-five racehorses. Notable achievements include winning the Grade 2 Mathis Mile with One More Bid and the Grade 3 Senorita with Visually.

To ensure the continued success of California racing for future generations, it is essential that we embrace ongoing evolution within the industry. I firmly believe that we must take proactive measures to expand our field sizes, which will enhance our wagering handle and ultimately lead to increased purses. I strive to contribute innovative ideas and collaborate with our board to advance the sport we cherish.
