Dear Owner/Trainer,
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club wishes to welcome all participants to the 2022 Summer Meet, July 22-September 11 and are anxiously looking forward to seeing owners/trainers back in force at Del Mar!
As we approach the Summer Meet, we wanted to inform you of exciting enhancements to our program that will be beneficial to both owners and trainers and should be taken advantage of:
- We will be offering the highest purses in California racing history.
- Purses will be increased in 21 stakes races, with the Green Flash Stakes added as an additional Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series “Win & You’re In” race. The bottom purse for stakes races will be $100,000, which includes overnight stakes.
- The Ship and Win Program. Once again, we are offering this lucrative program with further incentives. The bonus amount per horse for dirt races is $5,000 in first start, plus a 50% purse bonus in all dirt starts. For turf races, the bonus amount is $4,000 in first start, plus a 40% purse bonus in all turf starts. We encourage all owners and trainers to take advantage of this offer. Purse bonus will be awarded directly to ownership and applies to earnings for places 1-5.
- Maiden Dirt Bonus. Del Mar is offering a 25% purse bonus to runners of any age, in Maiden Special Weight, Maiden Special Weight Cal-Bred, and Maiden Claiming $62,500 and above dirt races. Purse bonus will be awarded directly to ownership and applies to earnings for places 1-5. Trainers must have fewer than 60 horses on the Southern California circuit to qualify for the program.
