Kaleem Shah’s Dortmund drew away easily to win the Grade 2, $400,000 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita. Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Martin Garcia, Dortmund is now five for five, with three of those wins in graded stakes. Prospect Park closed for second, with Bolo finishing third. Final time for the mile and one sixteenth was 1:41.65.
Dortmund earned 50 points towards the Road to the Kentucky Derby with his San Felipe win. The chestnut son of Big Brown out of Our Josephina was bred in Kentucky by Emilie Gerlinde Fojan. He sold for $140,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Mid-Atlantic Sale in 2014.
