Lila and Curt Lanning
Lila Lanning, wife of Curt Lanning and part of one of Northern California’s most prominent thoroughbred couples for over four decades, passed away this past Monday, March 15th at the age of 82 after a short illness. Lila was passionate about horses and her dogs and along with her husband Curt bred and owned hundreds of horses during her lifetime. The most prominent runners included Qiaona, Gentle Charmer, Phaenna, Tribal Storm, Amber Hills, and Zoning In. Lila and Curt were also awarded by the TOC the Chairman’s Award in 2002.
Lila was an avid golfer and seamstress. She was active in giving back to the community, supporting the Humane Society and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Lila was preceded in death by her son, Chris, her stepson, Craig, and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Curt, her sister, stepchildren Connie Holdampf (Ken) and Paul Lanning, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, The Wounded Warrior Project, or The Edward J Gregson Foundation.
