California-bred Alert Bay took his second consecutive Grade 3 San Francisco Mile Saturday at Golden Gate Fields. Owned by Peter Redekop BC Ltd. and trained by Blaine Wright, Alert Bay came from just off the pace to win by a length and a half with jockey Juan Hernandez aboard.
G.G. Ryder finished second, with pace-setter Many Roses third and Star Student fourth in the field of six.
Alert Bay was coming off a victory April 2 in a one-mile allowance race, his first start since finishing fourth in the G3 Longacres Mile Handicap at Emerald Downs last August.
