In a letter yesterday to TOC members, we incorrectly stated the positions of Terry Finley, who is running for President of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s’ Association. His letter to TOC members is below. TOC does not endorse candidates running for horsemen’s boards in other states. In the letter, we reiterated our board’s belief that Lasix should be used as a race day medication as part of adopting the Uniform Medication Guidelines and that the federal government should not be involved in our industry regulations. To be more specific, we believe there should be no additional restrictions on race day Lasix regulations, there should be no federal legislation filed to regulate medications, and we should not bring USADA into our sport.
