… TOC members Rick Goldfarb, Jeff Hug and Harry Shapiro are in Las Vegas, where it’s Day One of the 2015 Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC). The three players qualified at last year’s TOC Owners’ Challenge Handicapping Contests held in conjunction with our 2014 Annual Meetings — Shapiro and Goldfarb qualifying at Del Mar and Hug at Golden Gate Fields.

They join more than 600 entrants to compete for the largest purse in handicapping tournament history — $2,363,000 — and an Eclipse Award as “Horseplayer of the Year.” The three-day tournament, Friday to Sunday at Treasure Island, will offer a first-place prize of $800,000.
